George Lober was born in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1948 and educated in the public schools of San Jose, California. He attended San JoseCityCollege and San JoseStateUniversity, earning a degree in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing. He later earned a Master's degree in English with a Creative Writing Option from FresnoStateUniversity. He currently lives in Carmel, California.
He is a former winner of the Ruth Cable Memorial Prize for Poetry (1996) sponsored by Eclectic Literary Forum. His poems have appeared in Spectrum, Sage, The MPC Journal, Eclectic Literary Forum, Quarry West, The Homestead Review, The Central California Poetry Journal, The Anthology of Monterey Bay Poets MiPOesias, Lily, Caesura, and the Monterey Poetry Review.
Shift of Light (Hummingbird Press, Santa Cruz, CA, 2002) is his first book of poetry.
